All-new BMW M2 launched at Rs. 98 Lakhs

BMW has launched the latest generation of their entry-level sportscar, the M2 at a price of Rs. 98 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It is also offered with a 6 speed manual transmission among other options. The M2 will come to India as a CBU(Completely Built-up Unit) and will be available in limited volumes.

BMW M2 Powertrain

The M2 is powered by a 3.0L Inline six-cylinder turbo petrol. By default, this mated to an 8 speed torque converter automatic. However, customers can also choose to configure the M2 with an optional 6 speed manual transmission for an additional Rs. 1 Lakh. The powertrain generates 453HP and 550NM of torque which is then delivered to the rear axle. 0-100Kmph can be achieved in just 4.1 seconds with the AT, according to BMW. Further, the top speed has been rated at 250Kmph which can be increased to 285Kmph by opting for the M Driver’s package.

BMW is also offering M- specific adaptive suspension, M Sport differential and M High performance brakes as standard for the cars sold in India.

BMW M2 Features

On the inside, the highlights include a Curved display which houses dual 12.3 inch and 14.9 inch screens acting as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system respectively. Standard equipment list for India also includes a wireless charger, Harman Kardon sound system, Heads-up display, M Sport seats and more.

Optional equipment includes an M carbon roof, 19/20 inch Jet Black alloy wheels, Tinted headlamps, Red brake callipers and a 6 speed manual transmission.

BMW M2 Price & Rivals

BMW has brought in the M2 in a single variant priced at Rs. 98 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It is available in five colours- Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Black Sapphire, Toronto Red and Zandvoort Blue. There are two interior themes offered- Black and Cognac which can be configured as per the customer’s preferences.

The BMW M2 has only one direct rival in India in the form of the Porsche 718 Cayman.
