Honda Shine 100 DX Debuts with Smart Console & Enhanced Safety

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially launched the Honda Shine 100 DX, expanding its entry-level commuter model lineup. The launch coincides with HMSI’s 25th anniversary celebrations in India, the event also saw the launch of the 2025 Honda CB 125 Hornet.

Bookings for the Honda Shine 100 DX will commence on 1st August 2025, with pricing details expected to be revealed the same day. Positioned below the standard Shine 125 range, the Shine 100 is Honda’s most affordable motorcycle range. The new DX comes with enhanced comfort and convenience features tailored to daily use.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Design and Styling Updates

The Honda Shine 100 DX continues with the brand’s familiar commuter silhouette, but gets minor styling tweaks to set it apart. Up front, there’s a redesigned halogen headlamp housed within a slightly updated fascia. Chrome garnishing around the headlight adds subtle premium appeal, while revised graphics across the tank and side panels add some refreshment to the design.

Honda has opted for a simple, solid look rather than flashy design elements. The all-black engine, matte grab rail, and chrome muffler cover give it a clean and simple finish

The motorcycle is offered in four colour options namely, Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic and Geny Gray Metallic. Each variant gets the same body graphics and a matching blacked-out engine casing.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Engine and Performance

Powering the Honda Shine 100 DX is a 98.98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. It produces 7.3 Hp at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm, and is paired to a 4-speed gearbox. The engine is also OBD2B-compliant and equipped with Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology, aimed at improving combustion efficiency and reducing internal friction.Honda Shine 100 DX

This setup prioritizes fuel efficiency and smooth throttle response over outright performance. While Honda hasn’t disclosed mileage figures yet, expectations remain high given the brand’s performance in the 100–110cc commuter segment. A self-start system comes standard, along with a kick-start option for backup.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Instrumentation and Features

Unlike the previous Shine 100, the new Honda Shine 100 DX features a digital LCD instrument console. The cluster displays useful ride data, including: Real-time fuel efficiency, Distance to empty (range) and Service due indicator.

This is a welcome addition in the entry-level space, especially in a segment that traditionally relied on analog meters. The Shine 100 DX also includes a side-stand engine cut-off for added safety—a feature slowly becoming standard across commuter motorcycles.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Suspension and Ride Comfort

The Shine 100 DX uses a conventional telescopic fork at the front and twin 5-step adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. Honda claims this setup is expected to deliver a planted and balanced ride, suitable for rough rural roads and urban potholes alike.

With a wheelbase of 1245mm and a seat height of 786mm, the motorcycle maintains easy accessibility for shorter riders. Its long 677mm seat should provide sufficient space for both rider and pillion, while the 168mm ground clearance offers decent underbelly protection on uneven terrain.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Tyres, Brakes and Safety

Braking is handled by 130mm drum brakes at the front and 110mm drum at the rear, and the bike is equipped with Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard. The 17-inch wheels are fitted with tubeless tyres, providing better puncture resistance and ease of repair. The motorcycle weighs 103 kg (kerb), making it among the lightest in the segment.

Honda Shine 100 DX – Segment Positioning and Rivals

Positioned above the standard Shine 100 — currently priced at ₹68,862 (ex-showroom, Delhi) — the new Honda Shine 100 DX will be available for bookings starting August 1, with official pricing to be announced on the same day.

Its true test will lie in how competitively it’s priced against alternatives like the Hero HF Deluxe, Bajaj Platina 100, and TVS Sport. However, based on the hardware, comfort upgrades, and the added digital cluster, the Honda Shine 100 DX is poised to be a strong option for riders looking for a simple, durable daily machine.
