Maruti Suzuki India recently started to export the Jimny 5-door Jimny SUV to Japan. Due to a surge in demand, Suzuki Corporation has now temporarily halted bookings for the vehicle. The company is working to fulfill existing orders before reopening bookings.
In Japan, the SUV will be marketed as the ‘Jimny Nomade’. It will be produced at Maruti’s Gurugram facility in Haryana, marking the second India-made model exported to Japan after the Fronx. The exported model retains the same design as the India-spec Jimny but adds two new color options: Chiffon Ivory Metallic (with a black roof) and Jungle Green. The Kinetic Yellow color available in India is not included.
The interior features grey and black upholstery with a smaller touchscreen and retains the dashboard layout. The Japan-spec Jimny also includes heated ORVMs, heated front seats, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. The price in Japan ranges between 2,651,000 yen and 2,750,000 yen (approximately Rs 14.86 lakh to Rs 15.41 lakh).

Additional features include automatic climate control, push start/stop, LED headlamps with washers, fog lamps, body-colored ORVMs, 15-inch alloy wheels, and dark green glass. Safety includes 6 airbags, ABS, and EBD.
The 5-door Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B NA petrol engine, delivering 105 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also features Maruti’s mild-hybrid technology and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system with manual transfer case and low-range gearbox.
