Maruti Suzuki Victoris to be Exported from India: Gets a New Name

Maruti Suzuki has taken a significant step in strengthening its global export portfolio by commencing overseas shipments of its premium SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, from India. The model will be retailed internationally under the Suzuki “Across” nameplate and is planned to be exported to over 100 countries and regions, with key markets including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The first consignment of 450 vehicles have already departed from Mundra and Pipavav ports in Gujrat.

Maruti Suzuki has not issued any official statement confirming whether the Suzuki Across exported to international markets will retain the same exterior design elements and specifications as the India-spec Victoris.

The Victoris is positioned as a global product developed with international standards in mind and has already been showcased to overseas audiences, including at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. It also brings strong safety credentials, having secured a 5-star rating in both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP tests. With exports now underway, the Victoris badged as the “Across” becomes another Made-in-India model contributing to Maruti Suzuki’s expanding international footprint.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Exterior Design

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris features a sharp wraparound design language that gives it an almost wagon-like stance, setting it apart from conventional mid-size SUVs. The front end is defined by sleek LED projector headlamps paired with distinctive daytime running lights, while the rear gets connected LED tail lamps that lend the SUV a slightly sporty and modern profile.

The Victoris is offered in 10 exterior colour options. A panoramic sunroof with a double-slide mechanism adds to its premium appeal, while 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on higher variants. In terms of dimensions, the Victoris measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, placing it firmly in the mid-size SUV segment.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris adopts a three-layer dashboard layout with a black and ivory dual-tone interior theme. The cabin features a soft-touch instrument panel, textured seat upholstery, and piano black accents, contributing to an upmarket look and feel.

The SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster offering multiple display modes, paired with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, includes an integrated app store with over 35 applications, Alexa Auto voice control, and over-the-air update capability. Features such as a 360-degree surround view camera and a heads-up display further enhance convenience and safety.

Audio duties are handled by a segment-first 8-speaker Infinity system by Harman with Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound, comprising four speakers, two tweeters, a centre speaker, a subwoofer, and an in-built eight-channel amplifier. The Victoris also introduces segment-first 64-colour ambient lighting. Next-Gen Suzuki Connect adds over 60 connected car functions, including emergency call support, trip transfer navigation, and real-time vehicle status alerts.

Cabin air quality is addressed through an in-built PM2.5 filter with AQI display and an auto-purify mode. Additional comfort features include a hands-free powered tailgate with gesture control and multiple activation methods—via key fob, dashboard switch, or exterior tailgate switch—along with anti-pinch safety technology. The driver’s seat is 8-way power adjustable, front seats are ventilated, and a wireless smartphone charger with active cooling, along with USB Type-C fast-charging ports, is also on offer.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Engine and Drivetrain

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is offered with multiple powertrain options to cater to a wide range of buyers. These include a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology, producing 103 hp and 139 Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre Strong Hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT transmission and a dedicated EV mode.

The Strong Hybrid variant claims a fuel efficiency of 28.65 km/l, while the CNG version is rated at up to 27.02 km/kg. Notably, Maruti has equipped the Victoris with a segment-first underbody-mounted CNG tank, which is claimed to minimise any compromise on boot space.

For buyers seeking additional capability, the Victoris is also offered with Maruti’s ALLGRIP Select 4×4 system, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. The system includes multiple terrain modes—Auto, Snow, Sport, and Lock—along with hill descent control.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Safety Features

Safety is a key highlight of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The SUV was voluntarily sent for Bharat NCAP testing and achieved a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection. Six airbags are standard across all variants, along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and rear parking sensors.

Higher variants are equipped with Level 2 ADAS, making the Victoris the first Maruti Suzuki model to offer this technology. The ADAS suite includes adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional safety features include all-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Market Positioning

With exports now underway under the Suzuki Across name, the Victoris represents a key step in Maruti Suzuki’s global expansion. In global markets, the Across will face established mid-size SUV rivals, including familiar competitors such as the Hyundai Creta in select Latin American countries, along with region-specific offerings in the Middle East and Africa.

In India, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is priced between ₹10.49 lakh and ₹19.98 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the company has not yet disclosed overseas pricing details for the model, which will be sold internationally as the Suzuki Across.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki’s export journey is guided by the vision of Make in India, Make for the World. In calendar year 2025, with exports of over 3.9 lakh vehicles, we emerged as India’s number one passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth year in a row. The year also marked our re-entry into Europe with the start of exports of our first Battery Electric Vehicle, e Vitara.”

He added, “If we look at growth of India’s passenger vehicle exports in the past five years from CY2020 to CY2025, while the rest of industry grew by 1.43 times, Maruti Suzuki exports grew by 4.67 times. The addition of Victoris will further support our export ambitions, and we are hopeful it will be well received in international markets.”
