Skoda Kodiaq Lounge Launched in India at Rs 39.99 lakh: Here’s What’s Different

Skoda Auto India has launched the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge, the entry-level variant of its flagship SUV in India, now offered in a five-seat layout. Priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Lounge variant can be booked online or at authorised Skoda dealerships, with deliveries expected to start shortly.

The Lounge comes Rs 6 lakh cheaper than the seven-seater models, making it the most accessible option in the Kodiaq lineup. It sits below the Sportline (Rs 43.76 lakh) and Laurin & Klement (Rs 45.95 lakh) variants, providing a budget-friendly entry point while still retaining the SUV’s premium styling and comfort. The 2nd-generation Kodiaq was launched earlier this year.

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge – Exterior Design

The Lounge follows Skoda’s signature design language, highlighted by matte Unique Dark Chrome accents and 18-inch Mazeno alloy wheels finished in silver. It maintains a commanding road presence, though some of the more luxurious touches are reserved for higher-spec trims. The variant is offered in Moon White, Magic Black, and Graphite Grey. The basic silhouette of the Kodiaq remains the unchanged. The dimensions of the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge also remian unchanged,  measuring in at 4758 mm in length, 1864 mm in width, and 1679 mm in height, with a 2791 mm wheelbase.

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge – Interior and Features

Inside, the five-seat Lounge emphasises space and comfort, featuring Grey Suedia fabric upholstery and a two-spoke steering wheel. It comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, slightly smaller than the 12.9-inch unit in the Sportline and Laurin & Klement models. Key amenities include a sliding panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone mirroring, wireless charger, rear sun blinds, all-LED lighting, roof rails, three-zone climate control, cruise control, drive modes, USB Type-C charging ports, and Smart Dials for intuitive control.

While the Lounge omits certain features from the higher trims such as driver drowsiness detection, illuminated grille, virtual pedal for the electric tailgate, 360-degree camera, intelligent park assist, and the Canton audio system—it still offers a robust set of standard equipment.

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge – Safety Features

Safety remains consistent across all Kodiaq variants. The Skoda Kodiaq Lounge is equipped with nine airbags and a full suite of driver assistance and stability systems, matching the safety credentials of the more expensive trims.

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge – Powertrain

Under the hood, the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine delivering 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive.

Skoda Kodiaq Lounge – Market Positioning and Rivals 

The Skoda Kodiaq Lounge occupies the upper-premium full-size SUV segment in India while targeting buyers who want luxury, space, all-wheel-drive capability, and advanced features without moving fully into ultra-luxury marques.

Its main rivals include the Toyota Fortuner, known for ruggedness and Body-on-Frame capability, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, Hyundai Tuscon, Nissan X-Trail and the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line.
