Tata Curvv.ev launched Rs.17.49L; ICE version revealed

The Curvv.ev gets a choice of 45 and 55kWh batteries

Tata Motors has launched the Curvv.ev at a price of Rs. 17.49 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Built on the Acti.ev platform, it gets two battery size options giving it a maximum range of 585Kms. At the event, Tata also unveiled the ICE version of the Curvv which is slated to be launched in the next few weeks.

Tata Curvv.ev: Design & Interiors

The Curvv.ev features a unique SUV-coupe form factor which has trickled down to the mainstream market for the first time. The front end remains largely identical to the Nexon.ev featuring a high bonnet, a connected DRL strip along with vertically stacked headlamps on the sides. The side profile is where one sees the distinctive design with a tall stance and thick cladding as well as a sharply raked roofline culminating into the bootlid like a coupe. At the rear, it gets a high boot line with a thin connected lighting strip at its tip.

Inside, the dashboard is a lot more familiar with a grey and white dual-tone colour scheme. The centre of attraction is the 12.3 inch touchscreen which features wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Arcade.ev suite, 9 speaker JBL music system and Tata iRA connected car tech. Other notable pieces of equipment include a digital gauge cluster, touch based climate control panel, auto dimming IRVM, a panoramic sunroof, 6 way powered and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and more.

Safety features on the Curvv.ev include an ADAS L2 suite, 6 airbags, all-wheel-disc brakes, ESP, front parking sensors, EPB with autohold, Hill Hold Assist and Hill Descent Control among else.

Tata Curvv.ev: Powertrain & Variants

Underneath, the Curvv.ev gets an option of either 45kWh or 55kWh battery packs giving it an ARAI-certified range of 502Km and 585Km respectively. The 45kWh versions get a motor making 150HP and 215NM while the motor in the 55 version makes 167HP with the torque figures remaining the same. Tata says the higher-powered Curvv.ev 55 can do the 0-100 Kmph sprint in 8.6 seconds upto a 160Kmph top speed. It also gets 70kW DC fast charging capability along with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) as well.

As for the warranty, Tata is providing 8 years/1,60,000km on the HV battery and motor and 3 years/1,25,000Km coverage for the entire car.

The Curvv.ev 45 is offered in 3 variants- Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+S with the 55 version available in Accomplished, Accomplished+S, Empowered+ and Emporwered+A variants. Detailed pricing is linked below

Tata Curvv ICE version

At the event, Tata also unveiled the Curvv ICE versions which will be powered by a choice of three powertrains- a 1.2L turbo-petrol, a 1.2L direct-injection turbo-petrol and a 1.5L diesel. While the equipment list remains quite similar, it gets a different front end which puts makes it fit in with other Tata petrol and diesel SUVs such as the Harrier and Nexon. While the car has been revealed, it will be launched later in the first week of september. Both the Curvv and Curvv.ev have no direct rivals but sit in the same price range as other rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos among others.
