2026 Tata Punch EV facelift base variant detailed

Tata Motors have recently launched their updated Tata Punch EV at an introductory price of Rs 6.49 lakh with the battery as a service (BaaS) option at Rs 2.6 per kilometre,. Without this option the price stands at Rs 9.69 lakh ex showroom. The Punch EV is offered in Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure,  Empowered and Empowered Plus trims. It is available with 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery packs. Today we are detailing this base “Smart” variant and providing a clear breakdown of what it offers.

Tata Punch EV Base Variant – Exterior Design

On the exterior the Smart variant gets LED DRLs and halogen projector headlamps. Fog lamps are not offered. ORVMs get integrated turn indicators. The door handles are finished in plastic and are not body coloured. It rides on 15 inch wheels with black covers. LED tail lamps are not available. Rear wiper and rear defogger are also not offered.

Body cladding and skid plates continue to be available which maintain its SUV stance. The overall appearance remains simple but does not feel barebones.  The base Smart variant is offered only with four colour options namely, Pristine White, Supernova Copper, Bengal Rouge and Pure Grey.

Tata Punch EV Base Variant – Interior Design and Features

Inside the cabin the variant gets a 4 inch TFT instrument display. A touchscreen infotainment system is not available. Steering mounted controls are not offered. The two spoke steering wheel gets an illuminated logo. Rear windows are manually operated which is a notable omission. However the vehicle gets electronic boot release. Even being a base variant the Punch is equipped with Automatic climate control.

The base variant of the EV also gets driver seat with height adjustment and tree point seatbelts are offered for all passengers. This variant is offered with fabric upholstery seats unlike the premium leatherette materials used on the top-end variant. A physical handbrake is provided. Front and rear armrests are not available.

Tata Punch EV Base Variant – Safety Features

Safety features on this variant include six airbags electronic stability control ABS with EBD hill hold assist tyre pressure monitoring system ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors. The vehicle also gets a high beam alert system for low speeds below 40 kmph. Rear camera and rain sensing wipers are not available in this variant.

Tata Punch EV Base Variant – Battery Pack and Charging

Power comes from a 30 kWh battery pack with a claimed MIDC range of 370 kilometres. The motor produces 88 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque. The claimed acceleration time stands at 13.5 seconds. The Smart variant as it is equipped with the 30 kWh battery pack takes 11.9 hours with a 3.3 kilowatt charger and 4.5 hours with a 7.2 kilowatt charger.  Additionally, the Smart variant offers two drive modes which include City and Sport
