Tata Punch EV Facelift launched at Rs 6.49 Rs lakhs: Gets these new features

Tata Motors have officially launched the Tata Punch EV facelift has been launched at an introductory price starting at ₹6.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with the BaaS ownership model, marking the second launch for Tata Motors this year, with the first being the Tata Punch ICE facelift introduced earlier in January. Building on the updates brought in with the ICE facelift, this refreshed iteration of the Punch EV aims to enhance the appeal and feature set of Tata’s entry-level electric SUV offering. Notably, Tata has also introduced a new 40 kWh battery pack option with the Punch EV facelift, expanding the model’s powertrain lineup

The updated Punch EV features a revised front fascia with a redesigned bumper, updated headlamps, and different lighting elements that give the micro-SUV a more contemporary and EV-specific identity. At the rear, it now features a connected tail light setup, with a lighting signature similar to that seen on the Punch ICE facelift launched last month.

Additionally, the updated Punch EV is equipped with a new alloy wheel design, while its overall dimensions, silhouette, and wheelbase remain unchanged from the outgoing model. The Punch also features a ground clearance of 195 mm and a water wading capacity of 450 mm. Tata Punch EV Facelift – Interior Design and Features

On the inside, the updated Punch EV remains largely unchanged and does not feature a significant number of updates over the outgoing model. The cabin features an all new “Jaipur Grey” colour scheme with leatherette upholstery and updated metallic toggle switches.

The Punch EV continues to be offered a 10.25 inch centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with connected car features and a 7 inch digital driver instrument display. Additional features include a 360 degree camera, front ventilated seats, an electronic parking brake, a wireless charger with a 65 W type C charging port, single pane sunroof,  an auto dimming IRVM, and a blind spot view monitor.

Tata Punch EV Facelift – Battery Pack, Charging and Range

The updated Punch EV now comes equipped with a new 40 kWh battery pack option, delivering a peak power output of 127 hp. Tata claims the electric SUV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in under 9 seconds and offers a restart gradeability of up to 32 percent. It also features three drive modes including City Eco and Sport along with four levels of regenerative braking that can be adjusted via paddle shifters. The Punch EV 40 kWh offers an ARAI rated range of 468 km and a claimed real world range of approximately 350 km. Tata also offers the Punch EV with an updated 30 kWh battery pack.

In terms of charging the Punch EV supports fast charging up to 65 kW and can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in approximately 26 minutes. It also offers multiple charging options including a DC fast charger a 7.2 kW wallbox charger and a 3.3 kW home charger along with an all new home charger featuring an illuminated charging status indicator. The battery pack also comes with a lifetime and unlimited kilometer warranty.

Tata Punch EV Facelift – Variants

The updated Punch EV is offered in two battery pack options including 30 kWh and 40 kWh and is available across multiple variants such as Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered Plus S. Introductory ex showroom prices for the 30 kWh variants start from ₹ 9.69 lakh for the Smart variant and go up to ₹ 12.59 lakh for the Empowered Plus S variant, while the 40 kWh variants start from ₹ 10.89 lakh and extend up to ₹ 12.59 lakh depending on the chosen trim.

In comparison to the pre facelift model which was priced between ₹ 9.99 lakh and ₹ 14.44 lakh ex showroom, the updated Punch EV sees a more accessible starting price. Customers can also opt for Tata’s Battery as a Service model, with vehicle prices starting from ₹ 6.49 lakh along with a battery subscription cost of ₹ 2.6 per kilometer.

On the safety front, the Punch EV comes equipped with six airbags along with features such as hill hold assist, electronic stability program, TPMS, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It also offers a high beam alert system that functions even at lower city driving speeds, enhancing overall safety and driver awareness in urban conditions. The outgoing Punch EV facelift also featured a 5 star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. While the updated Punch EV facelift is yet to be officially tested, similar outcomes could be expected as it continues to be based on the same platform, although a definitive safety rating can only be confirmed once the vehicle undergoes testing.

Tata Punch EV Facelift – Market Positioning and Rivals

Bookings for the updated Punch EV are officially open from today and interested customers can book the vehicle either online via the Tata Motors EV website or by visiting their nearest authorised Tata dealership. Deliveries for the same are expected to begin shortly. In terms of rivals, the Punch EV will primarily compete with the Citroen eC3 in the micro SUV category. However, depending on the chosen variant and pricing, it may also rival the base variants of entry level sub four metre electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV as well as its own sibling, the Tata Nexon EV.
