2026 Tata Sierra EV Variants Explained: Which One Should You Buy?

The Tata Sierra EV was launched in India by Tata Motors a few days ago at a starting price of Rs. 18.79 lakh (ex showroom). The launch comes just six months after the Sierra ICE made its debut in December last year, marking the return of one of Tata’s most iconic nameplates in both petrol diesel and electric form.

The Tata Sierra EV is available with 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options, and both get a rear mounted electric motor. With Boost mode activated, the AWD version can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 5.8 seconds, making it the quickest accelerating Indian EV to date.

Tata Motors claims an MIDC certified range of 535 km for the 63 kWh variants, 665 km for the 75 kWh rear wheel drive versions and 624 km for the 75 kWh all wheel drive model. Using a 120 kW DC fast charger, the battery can gain up to 263 km of range in just 15 minutes, while charging from 20 to 80 percent takes around 26 minutes. Using a 7.2 kW AC charger, the 63 kWh battery takes 8.9 hours to charge from 10 to 100 percent, while the larger 75 kWh battery requires 10.5 hours. Buyers should note that the 7.2 kW home charger and installation are priced at an additional Rs. 49,000.

Tata Sierra EV Pure

Priced at Rs. 18.79 lakh, the Pure is available only with the 63 kWh battery pack and rear wheel drive setup producing 238 hp and 315 Nm of torque. Tata claims a certified driving range of 535 km.

Despite being the entry level model, the Pure is generously equipped. Safety equipment includes six airbags, all wheel disc brakes, electronic stability program, hill hold control, hill descent control, traction control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system and a rear camera.

On the feature front, buyers get a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, Amazon Alexa support, over the air updates, an eight speaker audio system, automatic climate control, PM 2.5 air purifier, cruise control, regenerative braking paddle shifters, rear AC vents, automatic LED projector headlamps and 18 inch alloy wheels. Available colours include Coorg Clouds, Pure Grey and Pristine White.

Tata Sierra EV Pure S

The Pure S is priced at Rs. 19.99 lakh and is also offered exclusively with the 63 kWh battery pack, 238 hp rear wheel drive motor and 535 km claimed range.

Over the Pure, it adds several features that significantly improve convenience. These include front parking sensors, an acoustic vehicle alerting system, auto folding outside rear view mirrors, vehicle to load and vehicle to vehicle charging, a voice assisted panoramic sunroof, a front storage compartment, roof rails and LED fog lamps with cornering function.

Tata Sierra EV Adventure

The Adventure variant is priced at Rs. 20.99 lakh with the 63 kWh battery pack and Rs. 22.19 lakh with the 75 kWh battery pack. The 63 kWh version produces 238 hp and offers a claimed range of 535 km, while the larger 75 kWh battery develops 209 hp and delivers a claimed range of 665 km. Both remain rear wheel drive. Two additional exterior colours, Andaman Adventure and Bengal Rouge, are also introduced.

This variant adds a noticeable jump in technology and cabin experience. Buyers get a 360 degree camera with blind spot monitor, rear defogger, wireless phone charger, AirConsole gaming support, Boss mode for the front passenger seat, auto dimming inside rear view mirror, ambient lighting, leather wrapped steering wheel, front thigh support extender, JBL 12 speaker Black audio system with Dolby Atmos, Arcade.ev entertainment suite, DrivePay, additional terrain modes and Drift mode.

Tata Sierra EV Empowered

The Empowered variant is priced at Rs. 22.79 lakh with the 63 kWh battery pack and Rs. 23.79 lakh with the 75 kWh battery pack. Both versions continue with rear wheel drive. The 63 kWh model produces 238 hp and offers 535 km of range, while the 75 kWh version develops 209 hp and delivers a claimed range of 665 km.

This variant adds features like 12.3 inch passenger display, front ventilated seats, a six way powered driver seat with memory, dual zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, reclining 60:40 split rear seats, a rear centre armrest with cup holders, adjustable rear centre headrest, sequential turn indicators, LED headlamps, rear fog lamps, gesture controlled tailgate, NFC card access and puddle lamps. It also introduces the exclusive Rishikesh Rapids exterior colour while retaining all colours offered on lower variants.

Tata Sierra EV Empowered A

Priced at Rs. 24.79 lakh, the Empowered A is available only with the 75 kWh battery pack and rear wheel drive configuration producing 209 hp, 315 Nm of torque and offering a claimed driving range of 665 km.

The biggest addition is Level 2 plus ADAS, bringing advanced driver assistance features to the Sierra EV. It also gets auto park assist, a 540 degree camera system, larger 19 inch alloy wheels, a powered front passenger seat, a head up display and a cabin ioniser, making it the most feature loaded rear wheel drive Tata Sierra EV on sale.

Tata Sierra EV Empowered A AWD

The flagship Empowered A AWD is priced at Rs. 25.99 lakh and is available only with the 75 kWh battery pack and dual motor all wheel drive setup. The AWD variant produces 306 hp and a combined torque stands at 504 Nm and Tata claims a 0 to 100 kmph time of just 5.8 seconds. The certified driving range is 624 km.

Apart from the AWD, this variant of the Tata Sierra EV gets Boost mode, six dedicated terrain modes including Grass Snow, Mudruts Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom, along with Off road Assist. It also introduces the exclusive Nanital Nocturne exterior colour while retaining every other colour available on the Empowered A.

Which Tata Sierra EV Variant Offers The Best Value?

For buyers looking for the best balance between price and equipment, the Adventure with the 75 kWh battery pack stands out as the sweet spot in the range. It combines the longest driving range available on the rear wheel drive models with premium features such as the JBL sound system, 360 degree camera, wireless charger, ambient lighting and DrivePay without stretching into the higher price bracket of the Empowered variants.

Those who prioritise luxury features will find the Empowered variants more appealing, while buyers looking for maximum performance and genuine all terrain capability should opt for the Empowered A AWD.
