Volkswagen launches Sound Edition for Taigun & Virtus

The Sound Edition comes weeks after the Taigun Trail Edition was launched

Volkswagen has launched the Sound Edition for both of it’s mainstream offerings- the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan. It brings minor cosmetic and equipment changes. This will also be a part of the recently announced GT Edge Collection. Prices for the Sound Editions range between Rs. 16.33-16.77 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).

VW Virtus & Taigun Sound Edition; what’s changed

Like other recent limited editions from Volkswagen, the Sound Edition gets minor cosmetic and equipment changes. The major change being a new 7 speaker sound system with subwoofer and amplifier. Along with it, you also get sound edition decals on the C Pillars of both the cars and a sound edition badge on the A Pillar tweeters. Being based on the top-end Topline variants, they also get features such as electric adjustment for front seats, footwell illumination, puddle lamps and more.

The Virtus Sound Edition is available in 4 colours- Lava Blue, Carbon Steel Grey, Wild Cherry Red and Rising Blue on both cars. However, the Taigun also gets a dual-tone paint option where the roof and ORVM colours will be painted in white.

Other features remain the same and the list includes an electric sunroof, ventilated seats, auto headlamps etc.

VW Virtus & Taigun Sound Edition: Engine & Price

Under the hood, the sound edition is only offered with the 1.0L TSI engine with an option of 6 speed manual or automatic transmission options. This engine makes 115HP and 178NM of torque. Notably, the 1.5L TSI EVO from the GT variants is not an option offered on the sound edition.

Talking of prices, Volkswagen has priced the Taigun Sound edition at Rs. 16.32 Lakhs for the MT and Rs. 17.89 Lakhs for the AT(Ex-showroom). The Virtus Sound Edition on the other hand retails at Rs. 15.51 Lakhs for the MT and Rs. 16.77 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for the AT option. The Taigun rivals other SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor among others while the Virtus sedan competes with others such as the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
