Kia’s Carnival aims to steal chauffeured buyers from entry-level luxury cars

Kia India has launched the much-awaited Carnival MPV at a price of Rs. 63.90 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Launched in a single Limousine variant, it aims to fill the gap in the market of a premium MPV. Initially, the Carnival will be imported as a CBU(Completely-Built-up Unit) before local assembly starts at a later date.

2024 Kia Carnival: Design & Interiors

This generation of the Carnival for India is the facelifted 4th generation globally and gets major design changes. Based on Kia’s new mid-size platform, it gets a more familiar look overall. At the front, it gets a new tiger nose grille with vertically stacked LED headlamps and DRLs. It also gets foglamps lower down in the bumper along with a silver applique. Towards the side, one can notice the longer wheelbase and the 18 inch diamond-cut alloys as well. The rear end has been designed to be largely clutter free and features a connected LED strip with a mostly flat tailgate. The new Carnival gets an option of Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black exterior shades.

Interiors is where the Carnival’s focus is with features such as wide dual sunroofs, three-zone climate control, a heads-up display and dual 12.3 inch screens for the digital cluster and infotainment system. Additionally you also get captain seats in the second row with an extendable calf rests, heating and ventilation functions. Also part of the equipment list is a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system, a 12 way powered driver seat with adjustable lumbar support, an 8-way powered co-passenger seat, Electric sliding doors and a lot more. Buyers can choose between Umber and Tuscan two-tone interior themes.

In terms of safety, the Carnival gets an ADAS L2 suite, all-wheel-disc brakes, 8 airbags, ABS+EBD, VSM, Highline TPMS, 3 point seatbelts for all occupants, front, rear and side parking sensors and more.

2024 Kia Carnival: Powertrain & Price

Under the hood, it gets a sole 2.2L diesel engine making 193HP and 441NM of torque which is paired to an 8 speed torque converter AT  which drives the front wheels. For now, Kia has launched the Carnival in a single Limousine variant in the 7 seat configuration only as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit). The car is priced at Rs. 63.90 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).

The 2024 Kia Carnival has no direct rivals, it will, however go up against other MPVs and SUVs such as the Toyota Innova Hycross, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster to name a few.
