Kia brings the EV9 to India as its absolute flagship SUV

At the ‘Inspiration Day’ event, Kia India has launched the EV9 at a price of Rs. 1.29 Cr.(Ex-showroom). Brought to India only in the top-spec GT Line, it will serve as the flagship EV in its india lineup.
Kia EV9: Design
The design of the EV9 remains true to the EV9 Concept showcased in 2022. At the front, the GT Line variant gets a more aggressive bumper and large faux air dam. This is flanked by massive vertically stacked LED headlamps on either sides along with a rather high and flat bonnet. Towards the side profile, the squarish theme continues with muscular fenders along with flush door handles. It also gets thick black cladding on the wheel arches which house 20 inch alloy wheels.
At the rear, the minimalistic theme continues. With a prominent muscular crease running across the tailgate, it gets stylish tall LED tallamps on either sides along with sportier bumper and faux skid plate for the GT Line. A noteworthy design feature of the EV9 is the rear wiper which remains completely hidden under the spoiler when not in use.
Kia EV9: Interiors & Features
Talking of the interiors, the EV gets an upright dashboard with two 12.3 inch touchscreens acting as the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen respectively. Being an EV, the EV9 gets a flat floor at the front as well. Additionally, Kia has given a small touch panel for the climate control just below the touchscreen. For India, Kia is also offering full leather upholstery for the interior. Move to the rear and you will find captain seats for the second row which include calf support and adjustable headrests. Uniquely, the EV9 also gets a third row of seats bringing the total seating capacity to 6.
As for features, the EV9 gets a host of technology including powered 18-way driver and 12-way passenger seats with memory, seat heating and ventilation for the first and second rows, 3-zone climate control, 2nd row massaging seats with 8-way power adjust, Heads-up display, a 14 speaker Meridian sound system, two sunroofs, 64 colour mood lighting and more.
For safety, it gets a whole host of features including 10 airbags, ABS, ESC, VSM, Downhill Brake Control, front, side and rear parking sensors, TPMS, 3 point seatbelts for all occupants along with an ADAS L2 suite consisting of 27 functions.
Kia EV9: Performance & Price
Under the floor, the EV9 gets a 99.8kWh battery pack which provides an ARAI-certified range of 561Km on a single charge. Driving both the axles are two motors which make a combined 384HP and 700NM. Additionally, it also gets 350kW DC fast charging capability which can top-up the battery from 10-80% in just 24 minutes. Further, it also gets a V2L(Vehicle-to-Load) function through which the car can reverse power various appliances or electronics. According to Kia, the EV9 can do 0-100Kmph within 5.3 seconds.
Kia has launched the EV9 in a single fully-loaded GT Line trim at a price of Rs. 1.29 Crore (Ex-showroom). Brought in as a CBU, it gets an option of five colours- Pebble Grey, Panthera Metal, Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl and Ocean Blue while the interiors come finished in a two-tone Black and Brown combination. The Kia EV9 competes with other luxury electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, BMW iX, Audi Q8 E-tron and more.
