The new E comes to India in the RHD and LWB format

Mercedes-Benz has launched their latest generation E-Class sedan, codenamed V214 at a price of Rs. 78.5 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). India is the only market in the world to get it in right hand drive configuration with the long wheelbase. The new E-Class will be assembled at Mercedes-Benz’ facility at Chakan.
2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Design
The new E-Class follows Mercedes’ latest design philosophy. At the front, this translates into a large central grille with hexagonal faux air dams towards the sides. The headlights now become more mature and shapelier.
Towards the side, one can clearly see the longer wheelbase which measures 3094mm. It also gets new alloys and a sportier roofline. At the rear, as with its other newer siblings, it gets a connected taillamps setup. A unique touch however is the TriStar signature in the taillamps.
2024 Mercedes-Benz E Class: Interiors & Features
Inside as well the V214 E-Class follows a common theme with the MBUX Hyperscreen now making its way inside. This includes three screens- a 14.4 inch centre infotainment display with AI integration, a 12.3 inch front passenger display as well as a 12.3 inch digital cluster for the driver. As a unique feature, Mercedes also has equipped it with a selfie camera mounted on the top of dashboard. Some other features highlights include- a 17 speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system, digitally-controlled AC vents, soft-closing doors, powered rear seats with 36 degree recline, extendable thigh support and winged headrests. You also get electronically controlled Sunblinds for the rear windows.
In terms of safety, besides the ADAS L2 suite and other safety features, it also gets a first-in-segment front centre airbag taking the total airbag count to 8. It now also gets an active brake assist system.
2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Powertrain
Under the hood, the E-Class gets an option of 3 powertrains. The base E200 petrol gets powered by a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo-petrol making 204HP and 320NM of torque. You also get a 2.0L 4 cylinder diesel with 197HP and 440NM for the E220d. For the enthusiasts, Mercedes is also offering a range-topping E450 version with a 3.0L 6 cylinder turbo-petrol making 381HP and 500NM. All three powertrains also get paired to a 9 speed torque converter AT and a 48V mild hybrid system which can provide a boost of 23HP and 205NM when required.
Out of the three, the E450 also gets a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. All three variants also get adaptive dampers for the suspension.
2024 Mercedes Benz E-Class: Variants & Pricing
The E class is offered in three variants- the base E200 being priced at Rs. 78.5 Lakhs (Ex-showroom), the E220d can be had for Rs. 81.5 Lakhs(Ex-showroom) while the E450 has been priced at Rs. 92.5 Lakhs(Ex-showroom). Deliveries for the E200 have commenced, while the E220d will be delivered Diwali onwards. The E450 on the other hand will start deliveries from November.
As for rivals, the E-Class goes up against the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 as primary rivals.
