Mahindra & Mahindra have launched the Mahindra XEV 9s in India, marking the brand’s entry into the three-row electric SUV segment with prices starting at ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on the company’s INGLO EV architecture, the model is available in six variants and offers battery capacities ranging from 59 kWh to 79 kWh. Bookings are set to open on January 14, 2026, with customer deliveries beginning on January 23, 2026. With this launch, the Mahindra XEV 9s joins the XEV 9e and BE 6 in Mahindra’s EV portfolio.
Mahindra XEV 9s – Exterior Design
The Mahindra XEV 9s follows the similar front fascia as seen on the XEV 9s, with an upright stance, clean surfacing, and LED lighting elements. The exterior includes an illuminated logo, Bi-LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, panoramic skyroof, and 18- inch wheels with aerodynamic covers. Higher variants receive sequential indicators. From the side and rear profile, the Mahindra XEV 9s shows visible design lineage with the Mahindra XUV700. The side silhouette and roofline, often referred to as the “tophat,” are from the XUV700. Tail-lamp housings get a smoked “LED-plus-black casing” treatment. The design avoids a connected light-bar (common with many modern EVs), opting instead for a more restrained look with “XEV 9S” badging placed below the number plate.

Mahindra XEV 9s – Interior Design
Inside, the Mahindra XEV 9s features a 12.3- inch triple-screen layout running across the dashboard, as seen on its coupe counterpart. The screen is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 or 8295 chipsets depending on the variant. Wireless smartphone connectivity, integrated apps, 5G support, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos are included in the higher trims.

The 3 row seating is one of the model’s key differentiators. Mahindra claims 4,076 litres of combined space across the front and second rows, up to 527 litres of boot capacity, and a 150-litre frunk. The second row receives sliding and reclining seats, optional ventilation, powered boss mode, window sunshades, and a lounge desk. A 50:50 split third row adds flexibility for larger families.
Convenience features include dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, electronically deployed flush door handles, cooled console storage, fast-charging ports, and multiple cabin modes such as pet mode, keep mode, and camp mode.

Mahindra XEV 9s – Battery Pack and Range
The Mahindra XEV 9s is offered with three battery sizes: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. The top-spec LFP battery claims a real-world range of up to 500 km. DC fast charging capability ranges from 140 kW to 180 kW, allowing a 20–80% charge in approximately 20 minutes based on variant.

Power outputs differ across the lineup:
-
59 kWh: 220 hp
-
70 kWh: 242 hp
-
79 kWh: 282 hp
The 79 kWh variant also delivers a 0–100 km/h time of 7 seconds and a top speed of 202 km/h. The platform supports adaptive dampers on higher trims, a 5-link independent rear suspension, brake-by-wire, low rolling-resistance tyres, and a 10-metre turning circle. The Mahindra XEV 9s also includes multi-step regeneration with single-pedal driving capability.
Mahindra XEV 9s – Safety and Technology
Safety equipment across the lineup includes a high-stiffness body structure, disc brakes all around, six or seven airbags depending on variant, and laminated door glass for improved NVH. The top-end variant offers L2+ ADAS using five radars and a vision camera, providing lane centring, blind-spot detection, and emergency steering functions.

Additional technologies include VisionX AR HUD, AutoPark Assist, driver monitoring through DOMS, 360-degree cameras, blind-view monitor, and TPMS with individual pressure readouts. The Mahindra XEV 9s also incorporates NFC-based digital key access, video calling support, in-car recording, and remote connectivity features.
Mahindra XEV 9s – Pricing and Variants
The Mahindra XEV 9s is available in a wide spread of variants, offering multiple battery choices and feature packages to suit different user requirements. The lineup begins with Pack One Above (59 kWh) priced at ₹19.95 lakh, followed by Pack One Above (79 kWh) at ₹21.95 lakh. Moving up, Pack Two Above introduces the 70 kWh battery at ₹24.45 lakh, while the 79 kWh version of the same pack is priced at ₹25.45 lakh. The more feature-rich Pack Three (79 kWh) is positioned at ₹27.35 lakh, and the fully loaded Pack Three Above (79 kWh) sits at the top of the range at ₹29.45 lakh.

Mahindra XEV 9s – Market Positioning and Rivals
The Mahindra XEV 9s enters a segment with no direct competitor in the 3 row EV SUV segment. While the Indian EV market has seen growth in compact and midsize electric SUVs, there are only few full-size, three-row MPV EV options. Models such as the BYD eMax 7 and Kia Carens Clavis EV overlap in price and technology . The Tata Harrier.ev presents a similarly EV platform but targets a different buyer due to its two-row layout and optional all-wheel drive.

Positioned between ₹19.95 lakh and ₹29.45 lakh, the Mahindra XEV 9s aims to attract buyers seeking space and range without entering luxury-EV territory. The variant spread suggests a focus on families, long-distance users, and EV-first adopters who require a three-row format. The inclusion of business-oriented depreciation benefits indicates a secondary focus on commercial or corporate fleet segments as well.
