2026 Tata Sierra EV Teased, Confirmed With AWD: What We Know So Far

Tata Motors is all set to unveil the Tata Sierra EV on June 30. The Sierra nameplate made a comeback last year in the form of the ICE variant, and at the time of its reveal, Tata had confirmed that the Sierra EV would follow the next year. That timeline now aligns with 2026, making this unveil one of the most anticipated ones in the company’s portfolio.

This will be Tata’s fifth launch this year. The year began with the Punch ICE facelift, followed by the Punch EV facelift, and then the Tiago ICE and EV facelift models. The Sierra EV will now step in as a more premium offering in Tata’s growing electric lineup. Ahead of its unveil, Tata Motors has dropped a teaser on its social media handles, confirming one of the biggest highlights of the upcoming electric SUV.

Tata Sierra EV – Expected Exterior Design

Based on multiple spy shots and the teaser glimpses from the video released by Tata Motors, the Tata Sierra EV is not expected to undergo major design changes compared to the ICE version. The overall dimensions are likely to remain similar, and the signature silhouette that made the Sierra stand out is expected to be retained. The upright stance, large glasshouse, and clean proportions will continue to define its presence.

That said, a few EV specific updates are expected. The front grille is likely to be closed off in line with Tata’s electric design language. The bumpers could see minor revisions to improve aerodynamics, and the alloy wheels are expected to be redesigned for better efficiency. In the teaser video, the rear is partially revealed and we can see that it is very similar to the ICE Sierra. We may also see a few additions to the existing colour palette. These changes will help distinguish the EV visually while maintaining the identity of the Sierra.

Tata Sierra EV – Expected Interior Design and Features

Inside the cabin, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to carry forward the layout from the ICE version. The highlight will be the triple screen setup, which includes a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3 inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3 inch passenger display. Lower variants may feature a dual screen layout along with a head up display.

In terms of features, Tata is likely to offer a well equipped cabin. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a 12 speaker JBL audio system, wireless charging, rear sunshades, a powered tailgate, and connected car technology.

Tata Sierra EV – Expected Battery Pack and Range

The Sierra EV is expected to be positioned between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata’s electric portfolio. The biggest talking point from the teaser released by Tata Motors is that the Sierra EV will be offered with AWD (all wheel drive), or as Tata Motors calls it, QWD or Quad Wheel Drive. We also expect a rear wheel drive variant to be on offer.

It will be based on the acti.ev Plus architecture, which also underpins the Harrier EV. This opens the possibility of the Sierra borrowing battery pack options from the Harrier.

The Harrier EV comes with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options. The 65 kWh version produces 238 hp and 315 Nm of torque and offers a claimed range of 538 km. The 75 kWh version delivers up to 390 hp and 504 Nm of torque, with a certified range of up to 627 km for the rear wheel drive version and 622 km for the all wheel drive version.

Based on this, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to offer similar specs and range figures, though likely tuned to suit its positioning. However, these details remain speculative at this stage and official specifications will only be confirmed at the time of the unveil.

Tata Sierra EV – Expected Price and Rivals

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. This places it between the Curvv EV, which is priced between Rs 16.99 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh, and the Harrier EV, which ranges from Rs 21.49 lakh to Rs 28.99 lakh.

In terms of competition, the Tata Sierra EV will take on models such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, and the Maruti e Vitara. With its distinct design and feature rich package, the Sierra EV aims to carve out a strong position in this growing segment. Tata may also consider offering battery as a service for the Sierra EV, which could help make it more accessible to a wider set of buyers.
