Mahindra & Mahindra has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, bringing an electric powertrain to its sub-four-metre SUV lineup. The XUV 3XO EV is based on the same architecture as the internal combustion XUV 3XO but features a dedicated electric drivetrain and EV-specific equipment.
The launch positions the XUV 3XO EV as Mahindra’s latest offering in the compact electric SUV segment, sitting below larger electric models in the brand’s electric portfolio. The 3XO EV replaces the XUV400 EV in Mahindra’s electric SUV range. Prices for the XUV 3XO EV start at ₹13.89 lakh (ex-showroom), with deliveries scheduled to commence from February 23, 2026. The introduction of the XUV3XO EV comes just a day after Mahindra unveiled the much-awaited XUV 7XO.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Exterior Design
The XUV 3XO EV retains the overall proportions and design of the standard XUV3XO, ensuring continuity in design rather than a radical departure. The silhouette, body lines and stance remain unchanged, while subtle copper finished exterior badges to help differentiate the electric version from its petrol and diesel counterparts.

These changes include EV-specific badging, a redesigned front treatment without a conventional grille opening, and an integrated charging port positioned on the front fender. The lighting setup continues to feature LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and connected LED tail lamps. The AX5 variant is equipped with 16 inch alloy wheels while the AX7L variant is a step higher and is kitted out with 17 inch alloy wheels.
The approach reflects a familiar design philosophy, allowing the XUV 3XO EV to blend into the existing lineup while making its electric identity clear through restrained visual updates.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Interior Design
Inside, the XUV 3XO EV follows a layout similar to the ICE model, with a focus on digital interfaces and physical buttons. AC charging is supported as standard, with an optional 7.2 kW wall charger available as an accessory.

Three selectable drive modes—Fun, Fast and Fearless which allow drivers to adjust throttle response and power delivery. The suspension setup incorporates frequency-dependent damping, aimed at balancing ride comfort and stability under varying road conditions.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Safety and Technology
Safety is a key focus area for the XUV3XO EV, particularly in the higher variant. The vehicle is equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold assist and all-disc brakes. The AX7L variant adds Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Market Positioning and Rivals
The XUV 3XO EV enters a segment that has seen steady growth, with buyers increasingly evaluating electric alternatives to conventional compact SUVs. Its pricing places it in direct competition with established electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon.ev and MG Windsor EV.
Mr. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “The XUV 3XO rewrote the rules by bringing aspiration and accessibility together at scale. With the XUV 3XO EV, we are extending that winning proposition into electric mobility for customers who want an EV that simply fits their lives — day after day. The XUV 3XO EV has been engineered around real usage patterns, ensuring that it meets everyday mobility needs reliably. It combines instant electric performance with a package that is tuned for confidence and ease in city driving.”
Within Mahindra’s own lineup, the XUV 3XO EV sits below larger electric offerings like the BE 6, XEV 9s and 9e, providing a lower entry point into the brand’s EV ecosystem. Rather than introducing a new body style or platform, Mahindra has opted to electrify an existing nameplate, reducing transition friction for buyers familiar with the XUV brand.
