Maruti Invicto MPV to launch on July 5

Will be a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross

  • 7 & 8 seater layouts

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch their flagship MPV, rumoured to be named the Invicto. This will largely be a rebadged version of Toyota’s Innova Hycross and will feature minor cosmetic differentiations. Bookings are already open and it is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for the entry-level variant.

Maruti Invicto Design

Being a badge-engineered version of the Hycross, the Invicto should remain largely similar in terms of design. Recent spy shots, however, suggest a few minor tweaks. According to the spy pics, we can see a different grille featuring a chrome centre line with the Suzuki logo in the middle just like the XL6. The front bumpers have also gotten a new sharper and sleeker design. The alloys seem to have been changed as well and we can confirm that the Invicto will feature body coloured cladding on the side profile. At the rear as well, we expect the Invicto to largely be similar to the Hycross but possibly with revisions to the bumpers and trim.

Maruti Invicto Powertrain

The Maruti Invicto will mimic the Hycross under the hood. It will get an option of a 2.0L NA Petrol which produces 173HP and 204NM. This will come mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The top variants, meanwhile, will get a strong hybrid system mated to the same engine. This results in a slight increase in power and torque to 186HP and 206NM. The hybrid will feature an eCVT transmission. No Diesel or MT variants will be offered, however Maruti might consider launching a CNG variant at a later date.

On the features front, the Invicto will again be very close to the Hycross and will get features such as Wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay, Panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, Dual zone climate control, 8-way adjustable electric driver seat, rear sunshades, 17 inch alloys and more.

Inside, it will be available in 7 and 8 seater versions with the former getting Ottoman captain seats for the second row with adjustable calf support. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, ESP, Traction control, front and rear parking sensors and more. Like the Hycross, it could also get the ADAS features suite which include Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Braking, Adaptive cruise control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert etc.

Maruti Invicto Launch date & Rivals

Maruti will be launching the Invicto MPV on July 5. Prices are expected to be a tad bit higher than the Hycross which should put it in the range of Rs. 19-30 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). When launched, it will also be Maruti’s most expensive product to ever go on sale in India and will be sold through their Nexa chain of dealerships. It will sit above the Grand Vitara SUV making it the flagship of the Maruti range.

Except the Hycross, the Invicto will compete with other 7 seater SUVs and MPVs in the price range including the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV7OO, Kia Carnival and MG Hector Plus among others.
