Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe to its performance line-up, marking the model’s first appearance in the Indian market. Priced at ₹1.35 crore (ex-showroom), the two-door AMG coupe replaces the C and E Class AMG coupes. The new AMG features a six-cylinder petrol engine, all-wheel drive, and adaptive suspension technology.
The CLE 53 is the 3rd Mercedes-AMG to be launched this year after the Mercedes-AMG G63 Collector’s Edition and the Mercedes-AMG GT. In India, the CLE brand was introduced last year with the launch of the CLE 300 Cabriolet, priced at ₹1.15 crore ex-showroom.
Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe – Exterior Design
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe features a long bonnet, a low-slung stance, and a coupe roofline, with proportions of a traditional two-door grand tourer. Since it replaces both the C and E class It blends the dimensions of the C with the cabin space associated with the E. Standard equipment includes adaptive LED headlamps, a Panamericana grille, aerodynamic bodywork, and rear LED clusters. Rear-axle steering is part of the standard package, offering up to 2.5 degrees of steering angle for improved handling. Also part of the package are Y-spoke 20-inch AMG specific alloys.

Inside, the cabin features a 12.3-inch digital driver display alongside an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen running the latest MBUX interface. AMG-specific display modes such as “Classic”, “Sport”, and “Supersport” are included, with the latter featuring a central tachometer and additional performance data.
The standard seating configuration is finished in artico man-made leather and micro-cut microfibre with AMG-specific embossing and red contrast stitching. A flat-bottom AMG performance steering wheel with integrated drive mode selectors comes standard.
Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe – Engine and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre M256M inline six-cylinder petrol engine with twin turbocharging. This updated unit delivers 449 hp and 560 Nm of torque, with an overboost function temporarily increasing torque to 600 Nm. An integrated starter-generator gives the CLE an additional 23 hp and 205 Nm, enabling functions like bursts of power during hard overtakes and smoother start-stop transitions.
Power is transmitted via a 9-speed AMG dual-clutch automatic gearbox with quicker shift mapping in Sport+ and manual paddle-shift modes. The fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system can switch between rear-wheel drive and fully engaged AWD configurations depending on driving conditions.
According to official figures, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, extendable to 270 km/h with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
