Tesla has launched the 2026 Tesla Model Y Premium in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 50.89 lakh, marking a significant price correction compared to the outgoing RWD variant that was priced at Rs 59.89 lakh. This makes the new entry-level Model Y notably more accessible in the Indian market. The launch follows closely after the introduction of the Model Y Long Wheelbase with all-wheel drive last month. Earlier this month, Tesla also inaugurated its fourth showroom in India and its first in South India, located in Bengaluru, signalling the brand’s growing retail footprint in the country.
Tesla Model Y Premium – Exterior Design
In terms of exterior design, the Model Y Premium continues with Tesla’s familiar minimalist SUV silhouette, but with subtle refinements that enhance its overall appeal. The clean surfacing, flush door handles and coupe-like roofline remain unchanged, but the updated design elements give it a slightly sharper and more modern stance. The aerodynamic profile continues to be a key highlight, not just for efficiency but also for its distinctive road presence. While it may not be a radical redesign, the Model Y still manages to stand out with its understated yet futuristic styling.

Tesla Model Y Premium – Interior Design and Features
Step inside, and the cabin sees more noticeable updates. The Model Y Premium introduces an all-black interior theme with a fully blacked-out headliner, lending the cabin a more premium and immersive feel. The centrepiece remains the large 16-inch touchscreen, which now offers improved responsiveness and a more refined user interface.

There is also an 8-inch touchscreen for the rear passengers, mounted behind the centre console. As expected from Tesla, physical buttons are kept to a minimum, with most controls integrated into the display. The cabin is also practical, offering up to 2,138 litres of storage space along with power-folding rear seats, making it a versatile option for families.
