TVS Motor company have launched a brand new electric scooter for the Indian market, it is called the TVS Orbiter. This is the brand’ third electric scooter after the TVS iQube and TVS X, which was launched way back in 2021 and has enjoyed sales of more than 6 lakh units to date. The Orbiter builds on the success of the iQube and aims to disrupt the EV scooter space with many segment first features, safety and range.
Launched at ₹99,900 (ex-showroom, inclusive of PM e-Drive scheme, Bengaluru and New Delhi), it undercuts the base spec iQube by over ₹7000. The latest launch from TVS prior to the Orbiter was the Raider Super Squad Edition, Wolverine and Deadpool themes.
TVS Orbiter – Design
The TVS Orbiter features a very modern and forward looking design, nothing like we’ve seen from TVS before. The scooter carries a purposeful stance with clean lines that TVS claim enhance aerodynamic efficiency while keeping the profile sleek. You get a pentagonal shaped headlight which is powered by LEDs. Also part of the front fascia is a LED lightbar that doubles up as a DRL and turn indicators.
The handlebar looks wide upright handlebar and is coupled with a wind deflector. The TVS Orbiter gets a 845 mm flat-platform seat, and 290 mm straight footboard section. The standout element remains the claimed 34-litre under-seat storage. TVS are claiming the boot is large enough for two helmets. The TVS Orbiter is offered in six different colours: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper.
TVS Orbiter – Battery Pack and Range
Equipped with a 3.1 kWh battery, the TVS Orbiter delivers a claimed IDC range of 158 km. TVS claims the design is aerodynamically enhanced to improve efficiency, stability and energy performance. The 14 inch front wheel is an Industry first and paired with the rear configuration TVS claims that the set up improves grip, handling, and manoeuverability in urban environments.
Speaking at the launch of TVS Orbiter, Mr. Gaurav Gupta, President, India 2W Business, TVS Motor Company said, “At TVS Motor, we are driven by unwavering focus on technology and customer-centric innovation. Leveraging our engineering expertise and advanced capabilities, we are building products that set global benchmarks in quality, performance, and safety. With TVS Orbiter, we are expanding our EV ecosystem and accelerating the adoption of electric mobility in India. We remain committed to strengthening our global presence, and offering solutions that contribute to a cleaner, sustainable, and smarter future.”
TVS Orbiter – Features and Technology
The TVS Orbiter incorporates a wide set of features and connected rider tech. Riders can access proactive safety tools such as crash, fall, anti-theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing alerts. Through the companion mobile app, battery status and odometer readings can be monitored remotely, adding a layer of convenience.
Navigation support is provided via turn-by-turn guidance with customizable settings, and the LCD digital cluster displays calls, SMS, and alerts. Functional additions like Hill Hold Assist, Cruise Control, and Parking Assist improve rider confidence, and over-the-air updates. Also included is a USB charging port.
TVS Orbiter – Market Positioning and Rivals
The TVS Orbiter enters the Indian electric scooter landscape as a competitively priced, entry-level alternative, launched at ₹99,900 (ex-showroom). Positioned below TVS’s iQube, the Orbiter is aimed at value-conscious EV buyers who seek smart features and adequate range without the tag of premium pricing. In doing so, it directly challenges models such as the Ather Rizta, Ola S1X, and Hero Vida VX2, all vying for attention in India’s increasingly crowded budget electric scooter market.
Also, customers can book the Orbiter online via the official TVS Motor Company website at a booking amount of ₹5001. Bookings can be made at authorised TVS dealerships as well. However, the firm has not revealed the delivery timeline for the scooter.
