Citroen India has launched the Citroen C3 Sport Edition, a limited-run variant of its hatchback on stilts. Priced at a premium of ₹21,000 over the standard version, this edition introduces visual enhancements, an exclusive new colour option, and an optional tech pack while continuing to offer both naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engine choices. The most recent update to the C3 range was the launch of the factory fitted CNG kit.
Citroen C3 Sport Edition – Exterior and Interior Enhancements
Visually, the Citroen C3 Sport Edition receives sport-themed decals along the sides, giving it a more dynamic profile. It also debuts an exclusive Garnet Red colour not available on other trims. Inside the cabin, ambient lighting, custom seat covers, matching seatbelt cushions, and floor mats set this edition apart.
The exterior design otherwise remains unchanged from the standard Citroen C3, retaining its signature dual-tone floating roof, SUV-inspired stance, and minimalist proportions. The car continues with its split-headlamp setup and pronounced wheel arches, giving it a distinctive look in the hatchback segment. The black cladding on the bumpers and sides lends it a rugged appearance, while the 15-inch wheels remain the same as the standard variants.
Inside, the Citroen C3 Sport Edition maintains the same dashboard layout as the regular variants, with minor cosmetic additions exclusive to this trim. The design is functional, with a horizontally laid-out dash featuring textured plastic surfaces and contrast colour accents. The large 10.2-inch floating touchscreen remains the center-piece, flanked by physical toggle switches and rotary controls for the manual air conditioning.
The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit with a basic display, offering speed, fuel, and trip information. While the seat upholstery is new in design for the Sport Edition, the overall material quality remains utilitarian. There are multiple storage spaces, including bottle holders and cubby holes.
Citroen C3 Sport Edition – Engine and Transmission Options
The Citroen C3 Sport Edition retains both powertrain options from the regular C3 lineup. The entry-level version continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 80hp and 115Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
For buyers looking for stronger performance, the highlight remains the 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. It develops 110hp and 205Nm of torque and is available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This combination enables the Citroen C3 Sport Edition to achieve a segment-best 0–100 km/h time of 10 seconds.
Citroen C3 Sport Edition – Features and Optional Tech Kit
The Citroen C3 Sport Edition continues to offer the familiar interior layout found in the C3 Turbo variant. Standard features include a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster. An optional Tech Pack, priced at ₹15,000, adds a wireless smartphone charger and dashcam.
Citroen C3 Sport Edition – Price and Availability
The Citroen C3 Sport Edition is priced ₹21,000 above the corresponding standard variants and is now available at Citroen dealerships across India. Though officially labelled a limited-run model, Citroen has not specified the exact number of units to be produced or sold.
Citroen C3 Sport Edition – Segment Positioning and Rivals
The Citroen C3 Sport Edition is aimed at buyers seeking a hatchback that balances sporty styling and engaging performance at a relatively accessible price point. With its turbocharged petrol engine and smooth torque converter automatic gearbox, it stands out in a segment largely dominated by AMT-equipped rivals. The arch rivals of the Citroen C3 include the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
However, Citroen’s limited sales and service network in India continues to be a challenge. Additionally, the omission of several expected features may limit the broader appeal of this edition, particularly when competing against feature-rich alternatives from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors.
