One of the biggest hurdles to the adoption of electric vehicles is their relatively higher prices compared to combustion powered cars. The higher upfront cost of EVs, mainly due to the battery pack, makes ICE cars more accessible. JSW MG Motor India was the first mainstream automaker to introduce the Battery as a Service ownership model in India. The company launched the concept in September 2024 alongside the MG Windsor EV.

Since then, brands such as Citroen, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Tata Motors, Toyota and most recently Hyundai have started offering Battery as a Service schemes, allowing customers to purchase an EV without paying the full battery cost upfront. Instead, buyers pay a subscription fee based on the distance driven. Here is a look at all the electric cars in India currently available with the Battery as a Service option.

EVs offered with BaaS – MG Windsor EV

MG introduced the Battery as a Service ownership plan in India with the Windsor EV, which was launched in September 2024 with a 38kWh battery pack. A larger 52.9kWh battery was added in May 2025.

The battery subscription fee is Rs 3.9 per kilometre for the 38kWh version and Rs 4.5 per kilometre for the larger battery pack. Buyers can reduce the upfront purchase cost by as much as Rs 5 lakh through this scheme.

The scheme reduces the upfront purchase price by as much as Rs 5.24 lakh, making it the largest cost reduction offered across MG’s electric vehicle range.

Paint Protection Film or PPF has steadily become one of the most essential upgrades for car owners. At its core, PPF is a transparent urethane layer applied over a vehicle’s painted surfaces to protect it from everyday damage. It acts as a sacrificial barrier that absorbs impacts from road debris, minor scratches, and environmental contaminants while preserving the original paint underneath. Unlike traditional coatings or wax, PPF is a physical layer that provides consistent protection without altering the look of the car, making it especially popular among enthusiasts and premium vehicle owners.

PPF Significance in India

In a country like India, the relevance of PPF becomes even more apparent. Road conditions vary significantly, from highways to uneven city streets filled with dust, gravel, and debris. Daily driving exposes cars to stone chips, scratches from tight parking spaces, harsh sunlight, bird droppings, and tree sap. Over time, these factors can dull the paint and reduce the resale value of the vehicle. With increasing ownership of cars and a growing focus on maintaining vehicle aesthetics, PPF serves as a practical solution. It not only protects the paint but also reduces long term maintenance costs by minimizing the need for frequent polishing or repainting.

Pre-Cut PPF Explained

One of the most efficient ways to apply PPF today is through pre-cut PPF solutions, and this is where Unisol Global stands out. Based in Bangalore, Unisol Global specializes in pre-cut PPF that are designed specifically for each car model, ensuring precise fitment without the need for extensive manual cutting on the vehicle.

These kits are created using software driven templates, allowing every panel to be covered accurately without excessive stretching or trimming. Since the film comes pre shaped, there is no blade contact on the paint during installation, eliminating the risk of accidental scratches. The process is also significantly faster as installers do not need to measure and cut each section manually.

Pre-Cut PPF Advantages

Pre-cut PPF also ensures a consistent finish across the car. Machine cut templates provide clean edges and a more factory like appearance compared to hand cut applications. Material wastage is reduced as each piece is cut with precision beforehand, making the process more efficient. These kits are also designed to prioritise coverage of high impact areas such as the bonnet, bumper, mirrors, and door edges, ensuring that the most vulnerable zones are protected. In case of damage, individual sections can be replaced easily using the same template, without redoing the entire panel. Overall, the installation process remains cleaner and more controlled, reducing the chances of dust contamination or uneven application.

Unisol Global Pre-Cut PPF and Services

Unisol Global’s premium PPF is engineered specifically for Indian conditions, offering invisible protection that maintains the car’s original finish. It features self healing technology that allows minor scratches to disappear with heat and strong UV resistance that prevents yellowing over time. Unisol’s pre-cut PPF stands out with a robust 230-micron thickness, an industry-leading 12-year warranty, and complimentary periodic maintenance.

These coatings deliver hydrophobic properties that repel water and contaminants. For customers seeking another level protection, their graphene based solutions bring improved thermal conductivity and enhanced durability, making them suitable for varied weather conditions.

In Bengaluru, the shift towards electric mobility is no longer limited to early adopters or technology enthusiasts. Increasingly, it is being driven by ordinary commuters looking for something simpler, smarter and more practical for everyday city life. This World Environment Day, the city’s growing EV story is becoming less about novelty and more about usability.

With rising fuel prices, worsening traffic congestion and increasing environmental awareness, many first-time buyers are now evaluating electric scooters through a very practical lens. Can it handle daily commutes comfortably? Is it easy to ride in traffic? Will it fit seamlessly into family routines?

Across residential neighborhoods, metro corridors and office districts, these questions are shaping purchase decisions, especially among young professionals, students and women riders buying their first EV. That is where practical electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak line-up are beginning to find strong resonance in Bengaluru.

Bajaj Chetak C35

This is where scooters like the Chetak C25 are beginning to stand out. For many women riders and first-time commuters, what matters most is ease and confidence in everyday riding. The C25’s lightweight design, easy manoeuvrability and short turning radius make it comfortable to handle in Bengaluru’s traffic and apartment parking spaces. Features such as Eco and Sports riding modes, call and music controls on the LCD display, and an all-metal body add to the everyday convenience, while the increased 60 kmph top speed makes longer city commutes smoother and more practical.

Bajaj Chetak C25

At the same time, Bengaluru’s growing base of tech-savvy commuters is looking for scooters that feel smarter and more connected to everyday life. The Chetak 35 Series is built around that experience. Features such as Google Maps integration on a 5.5-inch touchscreen, keyless access and anti-theft alerts make everyday commuting more seamless and intuitive. The large 35-litre underseat storage, front glove box and 80 kmph top speed further add to its practicality, while the overall experience reflects Bajaj’s focus on bringing advanced yet usable technology into urban mobility.

Bajaj Chetak C35

Another factor quietly supporting this shift is the improving charging ecosystem across the city. From residential societies installing dedicated charging points to workplaces and public spaces offering accessible charging solutions, range anxiety is gradually becoming less of a concern for everyday users. For most city commutes, riders are beginning to realise that charging once every few days is often enough, making EV ownership feel far less demanding than initially perceived.

Bajaj Chetak C35

Service experience is also playing a key role in shaping confidence among new buyers. With fewer moving parts and reduced maintenance requirements compared to conventional scooters, EVs are increasingly seen as hassle free in the long run. For many users, fewer service visits and predictable running costs are becoming as important as the riding experience itself.

Bajaj Chetak C35

What is becoming increasingly clear is that Bengaluru’s EV transition is not being shaped only by environmental conversations. It is also being shaped by convenience, reliability and the search for stress-free mobility in a city constantly on the move. And perhaps that is what makes this green shift more meaningful – it feels less like a trend, and more like a natural evolution of urban life.

The post Bengaluru’s Green Shift: Why 1st Time EV Buyers Are Choosing Practical Scooters This Environment Day, ft.

The Ferrari Luce marks a moment no one thought would come, Maranello’s first fully electric car after 87 years of combustion icons. On paper, it’s a technological powerhouse, pushing performance into a new era without a single drop of fuel. But beyond the numbers, the Luce carries the weight of redefining what a Ferrari is meant to be. And that’s exactly where the debate begins.

Because for many of us, Ferrari was never just about numbers or technology. I really feel sad for the kids of today. All of us grew up with posters of Ferraris that slowly transitioned into phone wallpapers, laptop screensavers and shelves full of scale models. We have had absolute greats. From my father’s era in the 80s and 90s with the F40 and F50, to my childhood where the Enzo, La Ferrari and the 458 Italia defined what a dream car looked and sounded like.

Ferrari did experiment, it’s not like they didn’t. You had the Ferrari FF and the GTC Lusso. In my opinion, the world’s most expensive and most powerful hot hatchbacks. They were different, they were controversial, but they still felt like Ferraris. They still had that soul.

There would be school lunch arguments defending Ferrari. You would pick a brand like Ferrari and absolutely stick up for them like they were your own. My father, funnily, used to and still does critique me by saying no brand is giving you a gold medal to defend them. But that raging 14 year old enthusiast didn’t care.

Because Ferrari was never just a brand. It was emotion. And that’s exactly why this hurts. Let’s get one thing straight. This is not hate because it is an electric vehicle. The world is changing, and even the most passionate enthusiast understands that. Yes, Ferrari means an absolutely mental red supercar that screams at 9000 rpm, but beyond the noise, it was about how it made you feel. That red supercar looked special. It was something you would cut out of magazines and stick into scrapbooks. Something you would draw in school projects when asked to sketch your dream car.

You didn’t need to afford it to love it. That’s where the new Ferrari Luce misses the point. On paper, it’s everything you would expect from a modern Ferrari. Insane power figures, futuristic tech, and performance that will probably rewrite what we think an EV can do. And yes, there are people who have accepted it. A new generation of buyers who see this as Ferrari stepping into the future. Some even admire the boldness. The willingness to break away from tradition.

And to an extent, that acceptance makes sense. Ferrari as a business has to evolve, regulations are tightening, cities are changing, and electrification is inevitable. For someone buying their first Ferrari today, the Luce might feel like the right product at the right time.

But for the enthusiast, the problem is deeper. This doesn’t feel like a Ferrari you dream about. It doesn’t have that instant poster appeal. It doesn’t stop you mid sentence when you see it. It doesn’t make a kid look at it and go, “one day, I’ll have that.” It feels distant. Almost disconnected from what made Ferrari special in the first place.

Look at how Rolls Royce approached electrification with the Spectre. It worked because it stayed true to what Rolls Royce stands for. Silent, effortless luxury translated perfectly into an electric form. It didn’t feel like a compromise.

The Luce, on the other hand, feels like Ferrari trying to redefine itself without fully understanding what parts of its identity needed to stay untouched. Because Ferrari was never only about speed or numbers. It was about theatre. Drama. That spine chilling sound. The curves that made no sense but somehow looked perfect. The idea that even if you never owned one, you were still part of that dream. And that’s why people are angry.

Not because it’s electric. But because it feels like that dream has been diluted. I don’t even have the money to afford a Ferrari. One would argue I shouldn’t be talking about this. But Ferraris have never only been for the people who buy them. They have always been for that kid looking at it from a distance, or on TV, or as a tiny scale model. The kid who believes that one day, somehow, life might align and he or she might have one of their own.

That belief matters.

And right now, the Ferrari Luce doesn’t carry that belief forward. Maybe time will change opinions. Maybe seeing it in the real world, in the right spec, on the right road, might make it grow on people. Ferrari has earned that benefit of doubt over decades. But today, standing here as an enthusiast, it just doesn’t feel right. This is not the Ferrari we grew up loving and more importantly, it doesn’t feel like the Ferrari the next generation will fall in love with.

The post Maranello Goes Silent After 87 Years And Enthusiasts Are Raging: Our Take on the Ferrari Luce first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Maranello Goes Silent After 87 Years And Enthusiasts Are Raging: Our Take on the Ferrari Luce appeared first on Shutterdrives.

Recently, Shutterdrives got an opportunity to speak with Priyank Rakholiya, Co-Founder of Samarth E-Mobility. Read on as he shares insights on the evolving EV motorcycle space, market strategy, pricing approach, and their upcoming motorcycle.

From building a ecosystem focusing on customer trust in the early years, he also talks about how Samarth plans to position itself in a still maturing EV motorcycle market and what customers can expect from the brand going forward.

Tell us a little about Samarth and the journey so far. What inspired you to start the company and what opportunity did you see in the EV space?

So, Samarth E Mobility started almost three years ago in July 2023. At that time most companies were focused on assembly, but we decided not to follow that route and instead build all components ourselves before launching the product. This gave us full control over components, technology, and after sales service.

With this approach, we began by setting up our R&D center. Today we have around 105 people working purely in R&D, and over the last three years we have developed the motor, motor controller, battery pack, BMS, charger, DC DC, display, and even our own operating system. Using all these components, we have built a high-speed electric motorcycle, which is currently under testing and will be launched soon.

A lot of EV startups in India are choosing to source components and focus on assembly. Why did you decide to build a full stack EV platform in house and what kind of trade-offs did that involve in terms of cost, time and complexity?

So when we started the company, we had two options. One was to import components, assemble them, and start selling immediately to generate revenue from day one. But based on our business experience over the last 12 years, we believe that to survive, sustain, and capture the market, the foundation has to be strong.

We decided not to follow the assembly route. Otherwise, we would have been just another company among many doing the same thing. Instead, we focused on building our own technology, because the Indian market, road conditions, and riding behaviour are very different from other countries.

You cannot simply import technology and expect it to perform here. For long term success, the product has to be built for Indian conditions, including roads, climate, and riding patterns. So we studied how people ride, understood their pain points, and developed our entire stack with the Indian customer at the center.

India is a very diverse market with climate, terrain and usage patterns varying massively from region to region. How has your product been developed to handle everything from extreme heat to varied road conditions across the country?

To handle this diverse situation, we developed our own BMS and PCM systems. If you look at India, conditions vary widely. In the North, places like Kashmir experience sub-zero temperatures in winter, while regions like Gujarat and Maharashtra see temperatures above 45 degrees in summer. In the South, the climate is very humid.

So the vehicle must be able to perform across all these environments. We designed a smart BMS that continuously monitors temperature, surroundings, and operating conditions, and accordingly manages power and efficiency for the battery pack and the vehicle.

During testing, we validated the battery pack across a range from plus 50 degrees to minus 10 degrees to ensure it performs reliably. Based on these results, we developed and refined our technology.

Specifically on the battery and BMS side, what were the key challenges in making a system that is reliable for pan India usage and how have you addressed concerns like thermal management and long-term durability?

When developing the BMS and other components, the biggest challenge in an EV is heat management. Better heat control leads to improved performance over time and reduces service and repair issues. So our primary focus while designing the BMS was on effective thermal management. The second key aspect was power, as motorcycles demand strong torque and throttle response, which must be sustained across different temperatures and conditions.

At the same time, the BMS also plays a critical role in maintaining battery health. Our system continuously monitors cell temperature and voltage, balances the cells, and adjusts based on operating conditions. This helps improve battery life and ensures smooth and reliable performance.

You are targeting the premium electric motorcycle segment. Do you think India is truly ready for that space considering most EV adoption so far has been in scooters rather than motorcycles?

If I answer briefly, yes, EV motorcycles will see strong penetration, but it will happen gradually, not overnight. We have already seen this with scooters, where adoption has grown steadily over the past five years and now accounts for nearly 20 percent of the segment.

However, motorcycles are a very different space. Unlike scooters, they are often an emotional choice, with higher expectations around design, power, acceleration, top speed, and range. To succeed in this segment, EV motorcycles must meet all these demands. If we can achieve that, there is clear demand in the market, and we are working towards delivering a product that aligns with these expectations.

What is the plan when it comes to selling the product. Are you going direct to consumer, building a dealership network or exploring a hybrid approach?

We are now moving from the industry stage to production, and our go to market strategy is to build a strong dealer network rather than selling directly to customers. We are currently setting up dealers across different cities, starting with a few to test the market and streamline our supply chain and service operations.

Our approach is clear. Before selling even a single motorcycle in any city, we will establish a service center and ensure a smooth supply chain so we can support customers within 24 hours. Only once this foundation is in place will we begin sales in that market.

Can you share which cities are being considered for the first phase of Samarth dealerships?

We are planning to start our dealership network from the western part of India because we are based in Gujarat also so we can easily adapt and easily smoothen our supply chain and service network and then start adding different states after six months.

What kind of manufacturing scale are you targeting in the initial phase and how do you see that ramping up over the next few years?

For the first one to two years, our focus is not on volumes. Our priority is to build trust with customers, establish a strong brand, and deliver reliable service. Once we have built that foundation, we will then shift our focus towards scaling volumes.

On the demand side what are your realistic sales targets once the product hits the market?

The EV motorcycle segment is currently a niche market with limited volumes. However, we believe that within the next two years, we can establish ourselves as a market leader, becoming a preferred choice when customers consider buying an EV motorcycle.

Can you give us a ballpark idea of where this motorcycle will be priced?

The Indian market is highly price sensitive, and we have kept this in mind from day one while developing our components and vehicle. Our focus is to ensure competitive pricing to gain a meaningful share in the motorcycle segment. We are targeting the 125 cc to 200 cc category and aim to price our EV motorcycle in line with existing vehicles in this segment, so customers can adopt EVs without paying a significant premium.

Like you mentioned you all are targeting the 125 cc and the 250 cc segment so today in the market who do you see as the biggest rivals or both in terms of maybe ICE as well as EVs who are the biggest rivals that Samarth sees today as a brand and as a product?

The motorcycle segment is extremely diverse, spanning from under 100 cc to over 250 cc, with each category already dominated by established players. In contrast, the EV motorcycle segment is still in a very early stage of development and far from mature.

At this stage, the priority is to grow the segment and bring more customers into EV motorcycles. The market is currently small, so we do not see any significant competitive threat. As the segment expands and matures, competition will naturally increase, but for now the focus remains on building the category rather than competing within it.

The post Building Before Scaling: Inside Samarth E-Mobility’s EV Motorcycle Strategy first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Building Before Scaling: Inside Samarth E-Mobility’s EV Motorcycle Strategy appeared first on Shutterdrives.

India is witnessing a significant fuel price hike, driven by volatile geopolitical tensions, especially in the Middle East, coupled with a global energy crisis. As crude oil markets fluctuate, the ripple effects are being felt across the country. From metro cities to smaller towns, this fuel price hike is not just about paying more at the pump. It is reshaping consumer behaviour, business strategies, and the broader economic landscape.

Fuel Price Hike – Reason and Price Hike

The current fuel price hike cannot be viewed in isolation. Ongoing geopolitical instability in oil-producing regions has disrupted supply chains. Coupled with production cuts and rising global demand, crude oil prices have surged. India, being a major importer of crude oil, remains highly vulnerable to such global shifts.

Fuel prices across India have been hiked by approximately ₹3 per litre. In major metro cities, the revised rates underline the scale of this increase. Mumbai now sees petrol at ₹106.68 and diesel at ₹93.14, while Delhi stands at ₹97.77 for petrol and ₹90.67 for diesel. Kolkata records the highest petrol price at ₹108.74 with diesel at ₹95.13, and Chennai follows with petrol at ₹103.67 and diesel at ₹95.25. In Bengaluru, petrol has risen from ₹103 to ₹106 per litre, while diesel has increased from ₹91 to ₹94.

Fuel Price Hike – Impact on Daily Commuters

The most immediate effect of the fuel price hike is on daily commuters. Individuals who rely on personal vehicles are now reconsidering their travel habits. Many are cutting down on non-essential trips. Carpooling is seeing renewed interest. Public transport usage is likely to increase.

In cities like Bengaluru, companies are encouraging hybrid work models. A three-day office week combined with two days of work from home is becoming more common. This shift is a direct response to the rising cost burden caused by the fuel price hike.

Fuel Price Hike – Impact on Public Transport

A major consequence of the fuel price hike is the increase in transportation costs. Cab aggregators are expected to revise their fares upward. Higher operational costs mean passengers will end up paying more for everyday commutes.

Auto-rickshaw drivers are also likely to increase fares. Even though some operate on CNG or LPG, these fuels have also seen price increases. The fuel price hike therefore impacts all forms of mobility, not just petrol or diesel vehicles.

Fuel Price Hike – Impact on Delivery and E-commerce Industry

The fuel price hike is putting pressure on delivery-based businesses. E-commerce platforms along with food delivery apps rely heavily on two-wheelers for last-mile connectivity. As fuel costs rise, delivery partners face shrinking margins.

Two wheeler shown for representation

To compensate, companies may increase delivery charges. This directly impacts consumers, making convenience more expensive. The fuel price hike is slowly changing how frequently people order online.

Fuel Price Hike – Inflation and Rising Commodity Prices

One of the most far-reaching effects of the fuel price hike is inflation. Transportation is a key component in supply chains. When fuel costs rise, the cost of moving goods increases. This eventually leads to higher prices for everyday items.

The fast-moving consumer goods sector is particularly vulnerable. From groceries to household essentials, prices may rise as logistics expenses increase. The fuel price hike thus extends beyond mobility into essential consumption.

Fuel Price Hike – Impact on Tourism and Hospitality Sector

The fuel price hike is also impacting the tourism sector. Road trips are becoming more expensive, forcing many to postpone travel plans. Summer vacations that once involved long drives are now being reconsidered.

Hotels and travel operators may also see reduced demand. With higher transportation costs, overall travel expenses increase. This makes discretionary spending less attractive, further amplifying the effects of the fuel price hike.

Fuel Price Hike – What Next

In some regions like Kerala, reports of fuel rationing have emerged. Limited availability adds another layer of uncertainty. Consumers are not just worried about price but also access. This intensifies the psychological impact of the fuel price hike, leading to cautious spending behavior.

The current fuel price hike in India is more than a temporary economic adjustment. It is a catalyst for widespread change. From commuting habits to business operations, every sector is adapting to the new normal.

The post Fuel Price Hiked in India by Rs 3: How it Could Impact You first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Fuel Price Hiked in India by Rs 3: How it Could Impact You appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The summer season has officially started in India. Temperatures are rising across the country and the heat is already making daily travel uncomfortable. While people struggle with the soaring heat, our cars also take the brunt of these harsh conditions. Vehicles that are parked outside for long hours often become extremely hot, and stepping into such a car can be very unpleasant.

Every summer we also see several hilarious videos online in India where car owners cover the body of their cars with cow dung, claiming that it reduces the heat inside the cabin. While these clips go viral on social media, they are not practical solutions for everyday use. Instead, here are some simple, useful, and effective tips that can actually help keep your car cool during the summer.

Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer – Tip 1

All modern cars come with air conditioning systems that help cool the cabin. However, simply having an AC is not enough. How you use the AC and how you manage heat inside the car makes a big difference. There are several simple steps that can help keep your car cool and make driving during the summer more comfortable.

AI generated image used for reference

One important reason to keep the cabin cool is the amount of plastic used inside modern cars. The dashboard, door panels, and many interior components are made from plastic materials. When a car is parked under the sun, these surfaces absorb heat and raise the temperature inside the cabin very quickly. A very hot cabin can also make driving uncomfortable. Heat inside the car can cause fatigue and reduce concentration. This can affect driving safety, especially during long journeys.

The first step to keep your car cool is to cool it down properly before you start driving. Many people enter the car and immediately switch the AC to full blast. This is not the best method. Instead, open all the doors or windows for one or two minutes. This allows the trapped hot air inside the cabin to escape. Once the hot air has been released, you can start the engine and turn on the AC at a moderate setting.

AI generated image used for reference

After the airflow stabilizes, you can gradually increase the cooling level. If your car has automatic climate control, it is best to use this feature. The system automatically adjusts the airflow and cooling based on the temperature inside the car. Also use air circulation mode wisely so that hot air from outside does not keep entering the cabin.

Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer – Tip 2

Another simple method to keep your car cool is to allow a small amount of ventilation when the car is parked in a safe place. If your vehicle is parked inside your home parking area or in a secure office parking space, you can slightly lower the windows by about one centimeter. This helps prevent hot air from getting trapped inside the car. Even a small gap allows air to move in and out and reduces the temperature buildup inside the cabin.

AI generated image used for reference

Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer – Tip 3

Parking also plays a major role in keeping your car cool. During the summer, always try to find a parking spot with shade. Parking under a tree, in a covered parking lot, or in an area where the sun is not directly hitting the car can significantly reduce cabin temperature. A shaded area with good airflow can make a noticeable difference when you return to the vehicle.

Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer – Tip 4

Another useful option is using sun protection for the glass areas of the car. Windshields are the largest glass surface in most vehicles and a lot of heat enters the cabin through them. A windshield sunshade is an effective and affordable solution. It blocks sunlight from directly entering the car and helps keep the dashboard and seats cool. Some drivers also use sun films. While sun films are regulated in India, there are permissible limits for their use. When installed within the allowed limits, they can help reduce heat entering the cabin.

AI generated image used for reference

Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer – Conclusion

Finally, avoid overloading your vehicle during the summer. A heavily loaded car puts more strain on the engine and the air conditioning system. When the AC system has to work harder, it may take longer to cool the cabin. Keeping the vehicle load within limits helps the system work efficiently and keeps the cabin cool more effectively.

With these simple steps, it becomes much easier to keep your car cool even during the harsh Indian summer. A little care in how you park your car and how you use the AC can make every drive far more comfortable.

The post Simple Ways to Beat the Heat and Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Simple Ways to Beat the Heat and Keep Your Car Cool During the Summer appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The festival of colors is here. Holi is one of the most joyful celebrations in India. Streets are filled with music, laughter, and bright colours. Families and friends come together with colours and water balloons. It is a time of fun and celebration.

At the same time, car owners need to be careful. The colors used during Holi may contain chemicals that can damage paint, rubber parts, and glass surfaces. For people who truly care about their cars, a few simple precautions can prevent unnecessary damage and expensive repair work later.

Holi Car Care – Park in a Covered and Secure Place

The first and most important step is to park your car in a covered and secure place. If you have access to a closed garage, use it. Basement parking is also a safer option compared to open parking areas. Avoid roadside parking or open spaces where people are actively celebrating. Keeping the car away from direct exposure reduces most of the risk.

AI generated image used for reference

Holi Car Care – Avoid Driving During Peak Celebrations

It is also advisable to avoid driving during peak Holi hours. Most celebrations take place in the morning and early afternoon. Taking your car out during this time increases the chances of colours and water balloons hitting the vehicle. Planning your travel either before or after the main celebrations can help keep the car safe.

Holi Car Care – Use a Good Quality Car Cover

If covered parking is not available, use a good quality car cover. Ensure that the cover fits properly and is secured tightly. A thick cover can prevent direct contact of colors with the paint surface. Even if someone throws colour towards the vehicle, the cover will absorb most of it. After Holi, remove the cover carefully and wash it before storing it.

AI generated image used for reference

Holi Car Care – Apply a Layer of Wax

Applying a fresh coat of wax before Holi can offer extra protection. Wax creates a thin protective layer over the paint. This layer makes it difficult for colours to stick firmly to the surface. If any colour falls on the car, it becomes easier to clean. Waxing also helps maintain the shine of the vehicle.

AI generated image used for reference

Holi Car Care – Consider Paint Protection Film

If you want long term protection, paint protection film is a good option. PPF is a transparent layer applied over the car paint. It acts as a barrier against minor scratches, stains, and chemical damage. During Holi, if colour falls on a car with PPF, it is less likely to affect the original paint. Cleaning also becomes easier. While PPF involves an initial cost, it offers strong protection for several years.

Holi Car Care – Do Not Rub Dry Color

If colour does fall on your car, do not rub it with a dry cloth. Rubbing can cause scratches and spread the stain further. Instead, wash the affected area immediately with clean water. Use a mild car shampoo and a soft microfiber cloth. Quick cleaning increases the chances of removing the stain completely.

AI generated image used for reference

Holi Car Care – Protect Wipers and Rubber Parts

Rubber parts such as wiper blades, door beading, and window linings can also get damaged by chemical colors. You may apply a rubber protectant before the festival. After Holi, clean these areas gently with water. Check the wipers properly before using them, as dried colour particles can scratch the windshield.

Holi Car Care – Seek Professional Help for Tough Stains

If a stain has dried for a long time or appears difficult to remove, avoid using strong household cleaners. Harsh methods can damage the paint. In such situations, it is better to visit a professional car detailer. They have suitable products and equipment to remove stains safely without affecting the finish.

Holi is meant to be enjoyed. With basic precautions and timely care, you can celebrate freely while ensuring that your car remains protected. A little attention now can help maintain your vehicle in good condition even after the colors fade.

The post Happy Holi 2026: Protecting Your Car During the Festival of Colors first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Happy Holi 2026: Protecting Your Car During the Festival of Colors appeared first on Shutterdrives.

Over the years, he has starred in cult films such as the Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Tarzan: The Wonder Car and Khatta Meetha. Apart from acting, he has also worked as a director, further strengthening his presence in the industry. Today, we take a look at Rajpal Yadav’s reported car collection based on various online reports, which suggest that the actor prefers a mix of luxury sedans and practical SUVs for his daily use.

Rajpal Yadav Car Collection – BMW 5 Series

Online reports suggest that Rajpal Yadav owns a BMW 5 Series, although it is not clear which generation or variant of the luxury sedan he has in his garage. The current BMW 5 Series sold in India is a long-wheelbase version and is powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 258 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission and comes with features such as a curved digital display, wireless smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting and advanced driver assistance systems, making it a well rounded luxury sedan for both comfort and performance.

Rajpal Yadav Car Collection – Mahindra Scorpio

Reports also suggest that he owns a Mahindra Scorpio, although it is not confirmed whether it is the older model or the new Scorpio N or Classic. Currently, Mahindra sells both the Scorpio Classic as well as the Scorpio N in India. The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 132 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.

Fancy number plates in India have steadily evolved from simple registration identifiers into high value collectible assets. Over the years, fancy number plates have come to represent exclusivity, status, and personal branding, particularly among business leaders and collectors. Low digit combinations, repeating numerals, and historically significant sequences are especially prized. With the emergence of organised auctions and private marketplaces, fancy number plates are now traded in a structured manner, attracting valuations that often exceed the cost of the vehicles they are registered on.

In a landmark transaction that has redefined the valuation of fancy number plates in India, the vehicle registration number DDC 0001 was sold for ₹2.08 crore, making it the most expensive car number ever sold in the country. The sale was conducted through Big Boy Toyz and marks a defining moment in the evolving market for fancy number plates in India.

The auction took place in early February 2026 on the Big Boy Toyz Auction platform and saw strong participation from serious collectors. The winning bid of ₹2.08 crore was placed from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Prior to the auction, the DDC 0001 number was registered to a Maruti Suzuki Ignis owned by Mr Jatin Ahuja, Founder and Managing Director of Big Boy Toyz.

The sale of DDC 0001 has established a new national benchmark for fancy number plates. Until this transaction, the highest values achieved by premium registration numbers were considerably lower. One of the most widely discussed earlier cases involved the HR 88 B 8888 number, which had once attracted bids exceeding ₹1 crore but was later invalidated due to non payment issues and subsequently re auctioned at a significantly reduced value. Other high value sales of fancy number plates in India have typically ranged between ₹30 lakh and ₹50 lakh, making the DDC 0001 transaction a clear outlier.

Low digit numbers such as 0001 are considered among the rarest categories within the Indian registration system. In the context of fancy number plates, such numbers are associated with authority, seniority, good luck and long term exclusivity. These registrations are often retained across multiple vehicles and viewed as enduring identifiers rather than disposable assets. The DDC prefix combined with the 0001 sequence significantly enhanced the rarity of the plate and played a key role in the aggressive bidding witnessed during the auction.

Big Boy Toyz, commonly referred to as BBT, is one of India’s leading luxury pre owned car dealerships. Founded in 2009 by Jatin Ahuja, the company operates across major metropolitan markets including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. Its primary business involves the sourcing and sale of used luxury and exotic vehicles from global brands.

In recent years, Big Boy Toyz has expanded beyond conventional used car retail into a broader premium automotive ecosystem. A key extension of this strategy is the Big Boy Toyz Auction House, which has emerged as a prominent platform for the sale of rare and high value automotive assets, including fancy number plates in India.

The Auction House facilitates the sale of curated assets such as premium vehicle registration numbers, celebrity owned vehicles, and high value mobile phone numbers. According to Mr Jatin Ahuja, the growing interest in fancy number plates in India reflects a shift in buyer behaviour, with collectors seeking verified platforms that offer transparency, documentation, and legal clarity for high value transactions.

The record setting sale of DDC 0001 underscores how fancy number plates in India are increasingly being treated as standalone assets rather than accessories tied to a specific vehicle. This transaction not only sets a new price benchmark but also highlights the maturation of the market for fancy number plates in India, driven by organized auctions and rising collector demand.

With DDC 0001 selling for ₹2.08 crore, the valuation landscape for fancy number plates in India has entered a new phase, setting a precedent that is likely to influence future auctions and pricing trends.

The post This fancy number plate costs Rs 2.08 crores! first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post This fancy number plate costs Rs 2.08 crores! appeared first on Shutterdrives.
