Maruti Suzuki has begun testing the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift, marking the first update for the second-generation model that was introduced in 2022. The compact SUV has consistently remained one of the brand’s best-selling models, and with competition getting stronger, this mid-cycle refresh is expected to keep it relevant. While the changes may look subtle at first, the latest spy shots hint at some important developments.
Last month, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift was spotted testing, hinting at updates in the pipeline. Now, with the Brezza also being seen on test, it’s clear that Maruti is working on refreshing a significant part of its lineup.

Starting with the exterior, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift largely retains its familiar silhouette, which works well for its identity in the segment. However, there are a few noticeable tweaks. The front bumper appears to be redesigned, featuring slight changes in its shape and detailing that could give the SUV a refreshed look. While the headlamps and grille seem similar to the current version, there could be minor refinements in the final production model.
Along the sides, the most visible update comes in the form of new alloy wheel designs, which help differentiate the facelift from the outgoing model. Apart from these changes, the overall stance and proportions remain unchanged, making this more of an evolutionary update rather than a complete design overhaul.

The biggest takeaway from the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift spy shots is the presence of emission testing equipment on the vehicle. This is a strong indicator that Maruti is working on revising the powertrain lineup. Such testing typically points towards either engine updates or the introduction of new engine options, making this development far more significant than the visual changes.
Currently, the Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 103 hp and 139 Nm of torque. It is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, along with a CNG option.
With the facelift, Maruti could introduce smaller engine options to take advantage of India’s tax structure. Cars under four metres in length with petrol engines below 1200cc benefit from lower taxes. While the Brezza meets the size criteria, its 1.5-litre engine does not qualify for these benefits.
To address this, Maruti may introduce a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, likely sourced from the Swift or Baleno. There is also a possibility of a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine being offered, potentially borrowed from the Fronx. These additions could help reduce costs and, in the case of the turbo engine, even improve performance.

There are no spy shots of the interior yet, but since this is a facelift, the updates are expected to be minimal. Maruti could introduce new seat upholstery, updated colour schemes, and slight improvements in material quality.
An updated infotainment system with improved UI and UX is also likely, ensuring the Brezza stays competitive with newer rivals in terms of in-cabin technology.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift – Expected Pricing & Market Position
The current Brezza is priced between ₹8.26 lakh and ₹14.41 lakh (ex-showroom). With the facelift, a slight increase in pricing is expected. However, if smaller engines are added to take advantage of tax benefits, Maruti could balance the pricing and maintain its strong value proposition.
The Brezza operates in a highly competitive segment and goes up against models like the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV3X0, Skoda Kylaq and the Kia Syros. With constant updates from competitors, this facelift will play a key role in helping the Brezza hold its ground.
